Kate Middleton ‘Very Likely’ to Attend Wimbledon 2025: Royal Expert

Princess Kate Middleton may make an appearance at Wimbledon 2025 following her unexpected absence from the Royal Ascot, according to a royal expert.

The Daily Mail‘s Royal Editor, Rebecca English, reported on Monday, June 23, that it’s “very likely” the Princess of Wales, 43, will attend the tennis tournament, which begins on June 30.

Kate is also reportedly expected to “be involved in” the French State Visit at Windsor Castle from July 8 to 10. However, it’s unclear whether she’ll attend the state banquet for French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron.

Later this summer, Kate and husband Prince William are likely to join King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, according to Hello!

Kate Middleton Makes Appearance at Wimbledon Amid Cancer Battle

Us Weekly reached out to Kensington Palace for comment.

Kate was expected to appear alongside William, 43, on day two of the Royal Ascot on June 18. However, in a last-minute change to the royal procession, the Prince of Wales instead rode in a carriage with Charles, 76, Camilla, 77, and Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Saud. Kate ultimately skipped the racing festival.

Though Kate was absent from the Royal Ascot, she previously appeared with the rest of the royal family at Trooping the Colour, the king’s annual birthday parade, in London on June 14. She looked to be in good spirits as she was photographed with William and their kids: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.

According to Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, Kate is taking her return to royal duties day by day after battling an undisclosed type of cancer in 2024.

“Kate might be back, but she’s doing it sensibly, and on her own terms,” Seward told Hello! on Tuesday, June 24. “Her priorities have changed, and she’s listening to her body, instead of being a people pleaser. She’s absolutely got to be strict with herself and say, ‘No, I can’t do this.’”

Seward added, “Maybe we’ve been lulled into a sense that we’ll be seeing her all the time again, because she looks so amazing. But it must be an effort to look like that when you’re not 100 percent full of energy.”

Seward explained that Kate’s absence from the Royal Ascot makes sense, as the event is “more exhausting than it looks. It involves an early start, and there’s a long process of hair and makeup and getting the right outfit.”

“The royals have lunch at Windsor Castle, then there is a bumpy carriage ride while the whole world is looking at you. It was a very hot day, and she probably simply didn’t feel up to it,” she continued. “I’m sure she was disappointed and really wanted to be there at William’s side.”

Kate Middleton’s Cancer Battle Timeline: From Diagnosis to Remission

Seward concluded, “[Kate] loves racing and so does her mum. But this was a social event — for fun and pleasure — rather than an official or charity engagement, so I think it was a wise decision, even though it was probably a difficult one, too.”

Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, revealing her plans to step back from public-facing royal duties to focus on her treatment. She later shared in September 2024 that she had completed chemotherapy. In January, Kate announced that her cancer is in remission.

“I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal,” she wrote via Instagram. “I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
