Fitness influencer Gloria Zamora and her date were killed by her estranged husband.
The Fontana Police Department told Us Weekly that the incident occurred on Saturday, June 21. Zamora, 40, and Hector Garduno were dining outside of a sushi restaurant in Fontana, California.
“There was a male and a female that were estranged; they were going through a divorce, that led to this,” Fontana Police Department’s Officer Steve Reed told ABC 7.

The Fontana Police Department told Us that the suspect, identified as Zamora’s estranged husband, Tomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga, shot the pair in the parking lot.

“We don’t know how he knew where she was at, but apparently, she had been at the restaurant for approximately an hour prior to the shooting,” Reed told the outlet.
Several off-duty law enforcement officers in the area responded to the gunshot sound, including an off-duty San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy.
“Apparently, he was driving on the street outside the shopping center and heard the gunshots and saw what had happened, made a U-turn at the light, and got out of his vehicle, and confronted the suspect,” Reed told the outlet.
The Fontana Police Department told Us that Lizarraga was subsequently shot and pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Days earlier, Zamora said on an episode of the “HERizon” podcast that she had decided to end her second marriage. The influencer amassed more than 155,000 followers on Instagram.

Zamora’s death was confirmed by her family in a GoFundMe, which has raised more than $25,000 of a $35,000 goal. The donations will cover funeral and memorial expenses as well as aid the lives of Zamora’s children in the aftermath of her death.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic and sudden loss of my mom Gloria, a loving mother, sister, daughter, and friend,” the statement read. “My mom was senselessly taken from us, she was murdered by my step dad Tomas, in an act of unimaginable violence.”
The statement continued, “She leaves behind seven beautiful children, ages 8 to 24, who are now facing a future without our mother’s warmth, guidance, and unconditional love. My mom was more than just a mother — she was a light in her community. She uplifted and inspired countless women, reminding them of their worth, their strength, and their potential. She always said, ‘Women can do anything they set their minds to,’ and she lived those words every day. Her courage, kindness, and determination touched the lives of everyone who knew her.”
A GoFundMe was also created to support the family of Garduno, 43, who leaves behind four children.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected loss of our beloved father. He was a loving, devoted, and hardworking man that was tragically murdered and gone too soon,” the message read. “He lived life with strength and did everything he could for his four daughters and family. His passing has left a hole in our hearts and a void in our lives that can never be filled.”
