Happy Gilmore 2 is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, and the film’s cast boasts some famous faces in Hollywood and the sports world.
Adam Sandler and Julie Bowen will be reprising their roles of Happy Gilmore and Virginia Venit, whom they portrayed in the original 1996 sports comedy. The sequel takes place 30 years after Happy was victorious in his first Tour Championship, and he’s set to come out of retirement.
Additionally, Christopher McDonald and Ben Stiller will return as Shooter McGavin and Hal L., respectively. Of course, fans of the first film cannot wait to see which professional golfers will appear, as questions have been raised about whether or not Rory McIlroy is involved in the sequel.

Is Rory McIlroy in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’?
McIlroy has confirmed that he will be making a cameo in Happy Gilmore 2. He shared that the original film was one of his favorites when he was younger, which made working on the sequel all the more exciting.
“Happy Gilmore was the golf movie for me growing up,” the golfer said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in May 2025. “I can recite pretty much every line. So the fact that I got the opportunity to do that was awesome.”

For McIlroy, one of the biggest highlights of filming Happy Gilmore 2 was getting to share the screen with Sandler.
“Sandler is, like, the best,” he gushed. “He’s the absolute best.”
McIlroy continued, “I felt like Happy Gilmore 2 for him was like a pro-am. He was producing, he was directing, he was acting. He was trying to coach us through what to do. It was a full-time job for him, but he’s a true pro.”
What Other Athletes Joined the Cast of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’?
McIlroy wasn’t the only big name in the sports world who was announced as a cast member in Happy Gilmore 2.
Travis Kelce will also be appearing in the movie and had nothing but good things to say about his experience on set.
“That was a dream come true,” Kelce said on The Pat McAfee Show in January. “I thought SNL was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career … working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”

The NFL star added, “They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with. I felt like I was working with like the Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome.”
Golfers John Daly, Keegan Bradley, Bryson DeChambeau, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Nelly Korda, Nancy Lopez, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Corey Pavin, Xander Schauffele, Paige Spiranac, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Lee Trevino and Will Zalatoris will also be in the film.
