Andrew Keegan has lived a quiet but exciting life out of the spotlight following his days as a teen heartthrob.
Keegan, now 46, made his film debut in 1994’s Camp Nowhere alongside Jessica Alba. The adventure flick also starred Christopher Lloyd, Jonathan Jackson, Wendy Makkena and M. Emmet Walsh. The following year, Keegan grew more name recognition when he joined Thunder Alley in season 2.
However, Keegan had his breakout role in 1999 as Joey Donner in 10 Things About You. The romantic comedy had a star-studded cast, which included Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gabrielle Union and Larisa Oleynik.

Andrew Keegan Revisits His ‘Funny’ 1st Meeting With Late Heath Ledger
Last year, Us Weekly caught up with Keegan at 90s Con. He shared how much he enjoyed attending conventions and connecting with fans all these years later.
“I didn’t realize that we have never had that opportunity. When you make a film, you go to a premiere. Nobody’s seen the film before and this is literally the opposite,” he told Us in September 2024. “These shows and movies have been seen so much. There’s such great appreciation and it’s really nice.”
During a March appearance on Joey, Matthew and Andy Lawrence’s “Brotherly Love” podcast, Keegan revealed that he was supposed to star in The Hot Chick alongside Matthew. However, he was fired from the cast before filming began for the 2002 comedy starring Rob Schneider, Rachel McAdams and Anna Faris.
“My memory, because this was a long time ago, I went to the read-through with you,” he recalled to Matthew. “I don’t know what your impression was but I did have this like, ‘Man I just did this Shakespeare film and I’m playing a guy, he’s like a douchebag. I’m already kind of a douchebag.’”

Keegan explained that he was worried about being “typecast as a douchebag” for the rest of his career, which led to him having an “attitude.”
“When I did the table-read, apparently that came across … I got the call from one of the Schneiders like, ‘Basically we’re gonna fire you,’” he revealed. “On the one hand, I didn’t really want to do it but I didn’t want to get fired!”
Since Keegan had already been cast, he still got paid for the project. He confessed that he used his earnings to further his passion for real estate and bought two homes.
“I had this money and it doesn’t feel right so I used that money to get into real estate … it’s good to get fired sometimes,” he joked.
Andrew Keegan: Why I Wasn’t ‘Really Sure’ If ‘10 Things’ Would Be a Hit
Despite getting fired from The Hot Chick, Keegan was able to move on and work on additional projects. He had roles in movies including Love, Wedding, Marriage, Living Among Us and Adverse in addition to the WB series Related. However, Keegan has not starred in a movie since he appeared in 2023’s The Activated Man.
In between projects in the late 2000s, Keegan made headlines when he founded a community spiritual center named Full Circle in 2014. Keegan’s intention was to create a space to welcome all individuals interested in meditation and yoga. The following year, the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control officers raided the center due to the organization’s distribution of kombucha, a fermented beverage. A Full Circle spokesperson stated that they were unaware that a license was needed to distribute kombucha, per Vice. Full Circle closed down in 2017.
Since stepping out of the limelight, Keegan has become a father. He welcomed daughter Aiya with ex Arista Ilona Satterlee in March 2016. While he’s not super active on social media, Keegan has given fans a glimpse of his life as a dad.
“Happy Father’s Day to all the dads! Such a great week/weekend, Aiya finished 2nd grade and we had a couple great beach days with friends and fam!” he wrote via Instagram in June 2024. “Surfing, volleyball and some boating with my daughter is a pleasure beyond words! Love my lil A.”

In addition to embracing fatherhood, Keegan has also dabbled in surfing. He’s good pals with pro surfer Kelly Slater and the duo have traveled to Fiji together for surfing expeditions. During his “Brotherly Love” podcast interview, Keegan recapped his recent trip to Tavarua with a friend who organized a trip with 30 to 50 avid surfers.
“I had one amazing experience with the owner, we got up a little bit early so we were out there at like 5:30 and the sun’s just coming up,” he reflected. “Nobody else is out there. It’s just me, him and the waves … head high just pick whichever one you want.”
Keegan shared that he aspires to create his own surfing “retreat” for himself and his friends.
