Victoria Monét Says She’s Looking For ‘Ciara’s Prayer’ in Her Next Partner

Victoria Monét is clear on what she wants when it comes to love.

The three-time Grammy award winner tells Us Weekly exclusively that she’d like her next partner to take on the traits of “Ciara’s prayer,” the often-discussed relationship prayer that singer Ciara said she shared with God before meeting and marrying New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson.

“Ciara’s prayer kind of lines up exactly [with what I’m looking for],” Monét, 36, explained while discussing her new children’s book Everywhere You Are. “You’re seeing an incredible merging of family. That’s what I would be [doing] now that I have [my daughter] Hazel. Seeing how Russell doesn’t treat [his step-son] Future any different is so beautiful to me. How he regards [Ciara] privately and publicly, whether cameras are out or not. It’s not performative.”

Ciara and Wilson married in 2016 and are raising four children together, including Ciara’s 9-year-old son Future Zahir from her previous relationship with rapper Future. Monét gushed that the Wilsons “really, genuinely love each other.”

“They feel like God put them together,” the singer dished. “They have a blessing over their relationship. I definitely would want that.”

Monét and fitness trainer John Gaines welcomed daughter Hazel, 4, in February 2021. The couple announced their split in September 2024, revealing at the time that they broke up 10 months prior. Following her breakup, Monét was linked to rapper Stormzy, but the “On My Mama” singer tells Us she is now single and ready to date.

“I’m definitely open to dating, but it has to be right,” Monét reveals. “I’m not interested in casual dating or hookups or low effort. If you want to date me, you’re going to have to court me because I don’t really have time for anything less. If I’m going to decide to spend time with you, I always think about how much time away that is for Hazel. So, it needs to be serious and worth it. I’m definitely interested in it, but have not been doing it because of the climate.”

Instead of dating, Monét has been devoting her time to her daughter, new music and her book, Everywhere You Are. The “Monopoly” singer wrote the book in an effort to help parents and their children deal with separation anxiety when the parent has to work. Monét tells Us she was inspired to write after feeling her own feelings of “mom guilt.”

“All we want as parents is just for our children to be happy,” Monét shared. “When you think about our own absence — making them sad and them not understanding — it’s a mini heartbreak for us every time we have to say goodbye. [The book] is giving parents a way to ease separation anxiety. It may also offer healing for children who have experienced grief. To know that you’re still connected, not just to physical presence, but through love.”

Everywhere You Are is available for pre-order now and hits bookshelves nationwide on June 24.
