Tyler Cameron Agrees Matt James’ Breakup Post About Rachael Was ‘Weird’

Tyler Cameron is sharing insight into how BFF Matt James is coping after splitting from Rachael Kirkconnell.

“He’s doing good,” Cameron, 32, said on the Wednesday, June 18, episode of the “Viall Files” podcast.

When asked whether he thinks James, 33, would ever share his side of the story, Cameron replied, “I have no idea. I think that’s for you to figure out.” (Host Nick Viall shared that he has reached out to James “a few times” but has received no response.)

“I think for him, the best thing to do is let it die and be done with it,” Cameron said. “Everyone saw the interviews and stuff, like, they both need to be broken up. They need to go their separate ways. They need to figure it out.”

Tyler Cameron Hangs Out With BFF Matt James’ Ex Rachael Kirkconnell

Cameron thinks that James “regrets” his breakup post, which was uploaded via Instagram in January.

“It was weird,” Cameron quipped about the post. “It transcended my beliefs and understandings. I love Matt, I still love Matt to this day. Once things like that blow up in your face, sometimes it’s best to let it go past.”

Cameron also noted that “everyone just wants to destroy everyone on the internet” and speculated that James would have gotten “some sort of backlash” if he handled the breakup differently. “I think the post, it just wasn’t good,” Cameron said.

James announced in January that he and Kirkconnell, 28, had gone their separate ways. “Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts,” James wrote via Instagram at the time, alongside of an image of the pair meeting on The Bachelor. “Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord 💔.”

What Tyler Cameron Said About Rachael Kirkconnell and Matt James’ Romance

Less than two weeks later, Kirkconnell spoke out about the blindsiding breakup and post — which she saw moments before taking off for an international flight.

“I’m still in total shock, so then knowing like the whole world is seeing this,” Kirkconnell recalled on an episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “I’m like, ‘This is so crazy. I can’t even wrap my mind around this right now,’ and I think that’s why I didn’t say anything. Still haven’t made a statement or anything because I’m processing this just like everyone else is.”

While moving forward, Kirkconnell reflected to Us Weekly in March that she still thinks the split was “out of nowhere.”

“And I do think that whether there was either some regret [regarding] the breakup in the first place — or at least the way that it was handled — that’s probably there [on his end] if I had to guess or if I had to say without saying,” she said.
