Jason Momoa’s teen son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, is gearing up to make his acting debut.
Nakoa, 16, and actress Ida Brooke have been cast in Dune 3 as Leto II and Ghanima, Deadline reported on Tuesday, June 17. Leto II and Ghanima are the children of lead characters Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya.)
Nakoa will be appearing alongside his father, who will be “playing a resurrected ghola of Duncan Idaho,” per the outlet.

Jason Momoa Reveals the 1 Sport He’s Trying to Teach His Kids
Jason, 45, shares Nakoa and daughter Lola Iolani Momoa, 17, with ex-wife Lisa Bonet, to whom he was married from 2017 to 2024. The actor portrayed Duncan Idaho in the first Dune film.
Denis Villeneuve will return to direct the third installment, which serves as a follow-up to 2021’s Dune and 2024’s Dune: Part Two. He previously shared that he was in the “writing zone” for Dune 3 while speaking with Deadline in October 2024.
Villeneuve, 57, said that he thought of the first two films “like one entity.”
“It’s a movie made in two parts. It’s finished, it’s done,” the director noted.

He referenced the story of Frank Herbert’s book Dune: Messiah, the second of his six Dune novels.
“Like Herbert did with Dune: Messiah, I think it’ll be a great idea to do something completely different,” Villeneuve said about the plot of the third film. “The story takes place like 12 years after where we left the characters at the end of Part Two. Their journey, their story is different this time, and that’s why I always say that while it’s the same world it’s a new film with new circumstances.”
While there are six books in the Dune series written by Frank, Villeneuve said that he “always envisioned three movies” while speaking with Entertainment Weekly in October 2021.
“It’s not that I want to do a franchise, but this is Dune, and Dune is a huge story,” he said. “In order to honor it, I think you would need at least three movies. That would be the dream. To follow Paul Atreides and his full arc would be nice.”

After Frank’s death, his son, Brian Herbert, collaborated with author Kevin J. Anderson on 20 more books in the Dune universe. There’s no telling whether or not there will be other Dune adaptations after the third film.
“Herbert wrote six books, and the more he was writing, the more it was getting psychedelic,” Villeneuve said. “So I don’t know how some of them could be adapted. One thing at a time.”
Sources previously told The Hollywood Reporter that there was chatter about potentially casting Robert Pattinson as a villain in the third Dune film in April 2025 but “no offer has been made to Pattinson.”
