Steve Burton and ex-wife Sheree Burton have been raising eyebrows since their 2022 split — and now they’re facing off in another messy legal battle.
The General Hospital star filed for divorce in July 2022 after news broke that Sheree was pregnant with another man’s baby. While the scandal spread like wildfire, Steve and Sheree managed to settle their divorce behind closed doors the following year.
The former couple, however, have been back in the news after trading public jabs as they fight over their custody agreement involving their youngest daughter, Brooklyn. The exes’ eldest children, Makena and Jack, are no longer minors.
From our partners:
Despite both getting remarried — Sheree wed Jason Amador in February 2025 and Steve married Michelle Lundstrom that May — Sheree and Steve don’t agree on how much time Brooklyn should spend with each of them and who can be involved in pickups and drop offs.

Initial Split
Steve announced in May 2022 that he and Sheree were calling it quits after 23 years of marriage. “I wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated,” he wrote via Instagram Stories at the time. “She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine.”
Two months later, the soap opera star, who married Sheree in 1999, officially filed for divorce. Steve cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, listing the date of separation as March 1, 2022, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly.
Us later learned that the pair sold their condo in Newport Beach, California, in March 2022 amid their separation for $3.2 million.

Divorce Is Finalized
Us confirmed in December 2023 that Steve and Sheree finalized their divorce 10 months after Sheree welcomed her fourth baby, daughter Izabella, with Amador. (Sheree and Amador welcomed their second child, her fifth, daughter Addy in February 2024.)
Steve and Sheree agreed to split their personal belongings, including jewelry, vehicles, bank accounts and other things purchased or set up in their respective names, according to court docs obtained by Us.
After selling their family home in 2022, Steve was awarded possession of the three remaining investment properties he has in Tennessee as part of the settlement.

Child Support Settlement
According to court documents obtained by Us in December 2023, Steve and Sheree agreed to share joint legal and physical custody of their two youngest children, Jack, who was 17, and Brooklyn, who was 9. At the time of the agreement, Makena was 20 years old and no longer a minor.
The Days of Our Lives alum agreed to pay Sheree $12,500 per month in child support until April 2024, after which he will pay $10,000 per month.
The former couple also agreed to “release the other from any and all past, present and future claims for spousal support and/or maintenance,” per the filing.
In wake of spousal support, Steve was ordered to pay Sheree $2,500 per month until his payments reached a total of $50,000.
Sheree Makes Moves
In May 2025, Steve filed a declaration in his custody battle with Sheree, claiming that she was making it difficult for him to see their youngest daughter. He alleged that after their divorce, Sheree persuaded Steve to move to Tennessee and then she relocated back to California. When he returned to California to be closer to Brooklyn, Steve claimed Sheree refused to coordinate a coparenting schedule for Brooklyn.
“Sheree has seemingly forgotten how our family ended up in this situation,” Steve wrote in the filing, according to In Touch. “It was Sheree who had an extramarital affair, became pregnant with another man’s child and immediately moved him into her home after our separation, without informing me she would be doing so.”
He claimed that the “sudden change” in their family’s living situation “had to be incredibly confusing and traumatizing” for Brooklyn, who was 7 years old when the move took place.

Gatekeeping Allegations Arise
Steve claimed in a May 2025 filing obtained by Us that Sheree was gatekeeping Brooklyn from him because she allegedly had an issue with his and Lundstrom’s relationship.
“Early on in my relationship with Michelle, Sheree began to refuse to call Michelle by her name and instead referred to her as ‘the girl’ in an effort to downplay her role in my life,” Steve alleged in the docs.
He also shared alleged screenshots of his and Sheree’s text exchanges, including one in which Sheree allegedly wrote, “Michelle is not your family or our kids’ family lol. She is your girlfriend.”
According to an alleged April 2025 text message sent from Sheree, she was not happy with Steve’s then-girlfriend being alone with their youngest child. “I am not OK with Michelle picking Brooklyn up from school tomorrow. If you’re not going to see Brooklyn then I will be picking her up,” Sheree texted Steve in the alleged message.

Steve replied, “Why is that a problem?” per the filing. He told the court in his declaration, “Dictating who can pick Brooklyn up for my custodial time and only allowing me to exercise custody if I personally pick her up is highly unreasonably and demonstrated the control Sheree is attempting to assume during my custodial time.”
Steve further alleged that Sheree was not OK with him spending time with Brooklyn if Lundstrom and her own children were there.
He claimed, “When Michelle and her daughters were in town Sheree would make it difficult for me to exercise custodial time with Brooklyn when I was in California. All of my requests were met with resistance. Sheree would tell me my requested time did not work or they were busy, despite providing her with ample notice.”
Sheree Accuses Steve of Harassment
After denying all of Steve’s claims that she was refusing to work with him on a custody schedule, she made her own allegations in May 2025.
“In the past few months, [Steve] has started to message me and accuse me of parental alienation if he cannot get ahold of Brooklyn,” Sheree alleged in docs obtained by Us, claiming, “His messages are almost daily and are harassing.”
Sheree also claimed in text messages that were shared by Steve in his May 2025 filing that her ex-husband was using Brooklyn for social media clout. “You and I know this is about optics to you. You guys have seen Brooklyn maybe a month total this entire year. I don’t [plaster] her face all over social media.” Sheree wrote in the alleged texts. “I don’t want her on social media like that.”

Steve Denies Claims
Steve denied Sheree’s accusations in May 2025. “Steve maintains that Sheree’s allegations are categorically false,” his lawyer Sarah C. Clark told Us in a statement issued on May 27. “He has, and will continue to, act in the best interests of the parties’ daughter, Brooklyn, which includes ensuring there is frequent and continuing contact with both parents.”
The statement continued: “On May 12, 2025, the Court heard the evidence loud and clear and granted Steve additional custodial time with Brooklyn that Sheree was unwilling to provide.”

Steve’s Income Revealed
Steve’s alleged six-figure monthly income was revealed in June 2025 after Sheree’s request that he pay her $25,000 to help cover her attorney fees was dropped.
Sheree initially filed the request in April 2025. Two months later, the court ruled against her demand. Us has since obtained the filing, which stated that Steve “earns approximately $100,000 per month,” according to Sheree.
She alleged, “On the other hand, I am self-employed as a fitness coach. My expenses from my business exceed my income. Therefore, my only source of income at this time is from interest and dividends from what remains of my half of the community property estate, which I invested.”
Sheree explained that she earns about $4,000 per month from the interest and dividends but claimed she has no other income. She noted that she has $10,000 in the bank and another $600,000 in stocks and bonds, while the value of her personal property was unknown.
