Bachelor’s Bob Guiney Weighs In on Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa’s Split

Bachelor Nation alum Bob Guiney has some thoughts about Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa’s failed engagement.

“Grant had said that he and Juliana were taking their engagement day by day. Now that, I will tell you, is a telltale, right?” Bob, 54, said during a Friday, June 13, episode of the “Almost Famous” podcast. “So, one thing I’ve learned from watching these shows over the years and seeing a few months later as people come through, and if they still haven’t set a date or maybe they still haven’t arrived at something. Three months, I think that’s probably a little premature.”

He continued, “I think everybody’s taking it day by day at that point. They hadn’t even moved in together. I think from that perspective, maybe that’s not as much of a telltale as, as it would have been six months down the road.”

Elsewhere in the podcast, Bob did say that as someone who has experienced his own public breakup he empathized with Grant, 31, and Juliana, 28.

The Bachelor’s Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa’s Relationship Timeline

“I’m sad by this too, because I know that no relationship — especially one that’s public — do you want to feel like you got off the train early,” Bob said. “I mean, you never want to feel like you’re that person who went through all this stuff and then at the end failed, and that’s how it feels.”

Bob speculates that the former couple is likely “experiencing a little bit of embarrassment,” which he knows from experience. (Bob was the Bachelor during season 4 in 2003, and left the show in a relationship with Estella Gardinier. After their split he got married to Rebecca Budig. They split in 2010 and Bob has since moved on with now-wife Jessica Canyon.)

“I know, having been divorced, my ex-wife was an actress,” Bob explained, referring to Budig and noting that he was both “as embarrassed as I was hurt” when news of the breakup went public.

Grant announced via Instagram Stories on Friday that he and Juliana had called off their engagement after three months.

All the Signs Bachelor’s Grant and Juliana Were Headed for a Split

“This is one of the harder things I’ve had to write, but I want to share it honestly. Juliana and I have decided to end our relationship,” he wrote. “We both gave this our best and poured a lot of love into each other, but after a lot of deep conversations, we’ve come to the understanding that we’re simply not the right fit long term.”

Grant stressed that they had a “meaningful” and “real” connection which started on The Bachelor, when they met.

“There’s no negativity here, no resentment [and] just two people who care about each other and want the best for one another moving forward,” he added. “I’ll always be grateful for what we shared and for the growth that came with it. Thank you to everyone who supported us and believed in our journey. This chapter is closing, but we’re both walking away with love and respect in our hearts.”
