Eric Dane is offering an update on his relationship with wife Rebecca Gayheart following their reconciliation earlier this year.
During the Monday, June 16, episode of Good Morning America, Dane, 52, got emotional when referring to Gayheart, 53, as the first person he calls when times get tough amid his battle with ALS.
“I talk to her every day,” the actor said while tearing up. “We have managed to become better friends and better parents, and she is my — probably my biggest champion. My most stalwart supporter, and I lean on her.”
From our partners:
Dane and Gayheart got married in 2004. She filed for divorce in February 2018 after 14 years of marriage. Us Weekly confirmed in March that Gayheart requested a dismissal of her divorce petition following a seven-year separation. (The couple share daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13.)
Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart’s Relationship Timeline
A little over a month later, Gayheart addressed her relationship with Dane.
“We are best of friends. We are really close. We are great coparents,” she told E! News in April. “We really figured out the formula to staying a family and I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well.”
Gayheart continued: “I think it’s important to not look at a relationship that ends as a failure. It’s just a season. It wasn’t a failure. It was a huge success. We were married for — I mean, we are still married — but together for 15 years and we had two beautiful kids, so I think that’s a successful relationship, and that’s how we look at it.”

Neither Dane nor Gayheart have publicly confirmed they’re back together following the divorce dismissal.
Dane’s GMA appearance marked the actor’s first sit-down interview after he announced that he was diagnosed with ALS.
“I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” Dane said in a statement to People in April. “I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week. I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”
Dane also offered an update on his health battle during the emotional interview.
“I have one functioning arm. … My left side is functioning. My right side, [which is my dominant side], has completely stopped working,” he said. “[My left arm] is going. I feel like maybe a couple, a few more months and I won’t have my left. … I’m worried about my legs.”
